About the Role

We are looking for a First-Party Data, AI & Consent Strategist to join our Data Strategy practice and help our clients navigate the new reality of marketing measurement — a world without third-party cookies, with stricter EU regulation, and with AI moving to the centre of how brands operate.

This is a senior, cross-disciplinary role that sits at the intersection of first-party data strategy, consent management, server-side measurement, and emerging AI compliance under the EU AI Act. You will be the internal authority on EU data and AI regulation as it applies to brand digital operations, translating regulatory change into concrete, conversion-friendly action plans for our clients and our internal teams.

The position is open as full-time or fractional (2–3 days/week), reporting to the Head of Data, with strong dotted lines to Compliance and Strategy. You will work side by side with our Data, Media, AI, and Tech squads to design frameworks the wider team can deploy across accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • First-Party Data Strategy: Design first-party data strategies for clients transitioning away from third-party cookie dependence, including identity, data collection, and activation models.

  • Consent Frameworks: Architect CMP implementations that are both legally compliant (GDPR, ePrivacy) and conversion-optimised, balancing user rights with measurable performance.

  • Server-Side Measurement: Implement and advise on server-side tagging setups (GTM Server, GA4, Matomo, Piano) to reduce reliance on client-side and US-origin scripts.

  • Regulatory Translation: Convert ongoing regulatory developments — cookieless web, GA4 DPA decisions, ePrivacy, and the EU AI Act — into pragmatic client roadmaps and internal playbooks.

  • AI Compliance: Map how the EU AI Act and surrounding guidance impact martech stacks, AI-driven personalisation, and automated decision-making across our client portfolio.

  • Playbooks & Enablement: Create repeatable frameworks, audits, and toolkits that the wider Wise Pirates team can deploy across accounts.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Be the trusted voice for clients, legal teams, and Wise Pirates leadership on what is changing and what to do about it.

What We're Looking For

  • 4–7 years of experience in digital analytics, data strategy, or privacy-focused marketing.

  • Strong working knowledge of GDPR, ePrivacy, and the EU AI Act, with the ability to translate them into operational decisions.

  • Hands-on experience with Consent Management Platforms (OneTrust, Cookiebot, Didomi, or equivalents).

  • Solid background in GA4, Matomo, or Piano Analytics, and server-side tagging architectures.

  • Familiarity with Customer Data Platforms (CDPs), data clean rooms, and modern attribution modelling.

  • Experience designing first-party data and consent strategies for medium-to-large brands.

  • Fluent English; Portuguese is a plus; an additional EU language is a strong plus.

Nice to Have

  • Background at a Data Protection Authority (DPA), a privacy consultancy, or as DPO at a mid-to-large EU brand.

  • Relevant certifications (CIPP/E, CIPM, IAPP AI Governance Professional).

  • Experience with data clean rooms (Google Ads Data Hub, Habu, LiveRamp) and identity solutions.

  • Hands-on experience auditing or implementing AI governance frameworks under the EU AI Act.

  • Prior exposure to MarTech, digital operations, or client-facing agency environments.
