About Wise Pirates
Wise Pirates is a leading Digital, Tech, and AI Business Partner, operating in over 80 countries from Portugal. With a team of 100+ professionals, we are a Martech-independent agency at the forefront of innovation in Southern Europe. Our ambition is to lead an AI-first marketing ecosystem, blending human creativity with the power of artificial intelligence.
We are dynamic, forward-thinking, and driven by data, automation, and meaningful customer experiences. We believe that our people are our most valuable asset, and we are committed to fostering a culture where they can grow, innovate, and thrive.
About the Role
We are looking for an EU Martech Stack Consultant to help our clients navigate the shift toward sovereign, EU-native marketing technology. As regulatory pressure intensifies (GDPR enforcement, DORA, NIS2) and dependency on US-origin tooling becomes a strategic risk, this role sits at the intersection of strategy, compliance and martech architecture.
You will work directly with clients in regulated and sovereignty-sensitive sectors — finance, health, public sector and beyond — auditing existing stacks, designing migration paths to EU-compliant alternatives, and shaping the consent, data and measurement layers that underpin modern marketing operations. You will also help productise this practice internally, contributing to Wise Pirates' "Sovereign Martech Audit" as a flagship advisory offer.
This role reports into a PT-based lead and is positioned to generate direct client impact and revenue from day one.
Key Responsibilities
● Stack Audit & Migration: Audit client martech stacks for US-origin dependencies and design pragmatic migration paths to EU-compliant alternatives across analytics, CRM, advertising and automation.
● EU-Native Tooling Map: Build and maintain a curated, opinionated map of EU-native tools (e.g., Matomo, Plausible, Piwik PRO, EU CDPs and DSPs), keeping it current as the ecosystem evolves.
● Discovery & Strategy Workshops: Lead client workshops on first-party data, consent architecture and measurement strategy, translating business questions into a clear data layer and tag governance plan.
● Compliance Translation: Stay current on regulatory shifts (GDPR enforcement, ePrivacy, DORA, NIS2) and translate them into actionable, prioritised client guidance.
● Productisation: Co-develop the "Sovereign Martech Audit" as a repeatable, productised service — frameworks, deliverables, pricing logic and case studies.
● Pitch Support: Support new business pitches in sectors with high sovereignty pressure, contributing diagnostic frameworks and credible technical narratives.
● Funding Angle: Where relevant, help clients identify and co-write applications for EU funding programmes (e.g., Digital Europe Programme) tied to digital transformation projects.
What We're Looking For
Technical & Platform Skills
● 3 to 6 years of experience in martech strategy, digital consulting, or marketing technology, ideally in agency, consultancy or in-house martech lead roles at regulated EU brands.
● Strong working knowledge of the EU-native martech landscape, including GA4 alternatives (Matomo, Plausible, Piwik PRO) and EU-based CDP, CRM and DSP options.
● Solid grasp of CDP & CRM strategy, data layer architecture, and measurement design.
● Hands-on familiarity with tag management and consent management platforms (e.g., GTM/Server-side GTM, Tealium, Cookiebot, OneTrust, Didomi).
● Practical understanding of GDPR and ePrivacy obligations as they apply to tracking, profiling and advertising activation.
● Comfort with API integrations and how marketing platforms exchange data in real-world stacks.
● Experience leading client advisory conversations and running structured workshops.
● Fluent written and spoken English; Portuguese is an ideal plus; a third language (French or German) is a strong plus.
Behavioral Skills
● Consultative Mindset: You translate ambiguous business and regulatory questions into clear, defensible recommendations clients can act on.
● Cross-Functional Communication: Excellent ability to explain martech architecture and compliance trade-offs to both technical teams and senior business stakeholders.
● Curiosity & Continuous Learning: Genuinely interested in how the EU martech and regulatory landscape is evolving, and proactive about staying current.
● Strategic & Analytical Thinker: Capable of moving fluently between high-level stack strategy and the operational detail of tags, events and data flows.
● Results Ownership: Strong sense of accountability for the outcomes of your recommendations — adoption, compliance posture and measurable business impact.
● Kindness: At Wise Pirates we promote and admire kindness, regardless of rhythm, intensity, or efficiency.
● AI Readiness: Interest and fluency in using AI as a partner to deliver efficient value, respecting security and privacy regulations.
● Innovation Lover: Someone seeking continuous growth and desiring to be part of innovative solutions.
● Vendor Neutrality: You stay focused on what each client actually needs and on regional compliance, without ideological attachment to any vendor, origin or geography. Wise Pirates works with both EU-native and international providers, and you should be naturally comfortable recommending whichever stack genuinely serves the client.
Nice to Have
● Background in top-tier consultancies with strong EU martech practices (e.g., Accenture Song, Deloitte Digital, local independents) or in-house martech leadership at regulated EU brands.
● Experience with programmatic advertising and EU-based DSPs.
● Familiarity with server-side tracking architectures and first-party data activation patterns.
● Exposure to EU funding programmes (e.g., Digital Europe Programme) and grant application processes.
● Certifications in privacy, data protection (e.g., CIPP/E) or relevant martech platforms.
● Previous experience with end clients in an agency or consultancy role.
What We Offer
● A front-row seat in a growing agency placing AI at the centre of how we work and how we serve our clients, both in service and products.
● A culture of autonomy, where you own your projects end-to-end and have real space to experiment.
● Direct exposure to a wide range of use cases, industries, and clients across 80+ countries, with real impact on what gets shipped.
● Continuous learning alongside a cross-functional team of automation, data, media, and creative specialists.
● Competitive Salary: Salary conditions that reflect your seniority and impact.
● Flexible Work: A Hybrid Work Model designed for balance.
● Elite Tech Access: Fast access to advanced AI tools and hardware.
● Rest & Resilience: Up to 30 vacation days for resilient and top performers.
● Global Projects: Opportunity to work with top-tier national and international brands.
● Growth Mindset: Real career growth, continuous learning, and access to certifications/bootcamps.
● Family First: Enhanced Parental Leave.
● Pirate Life: A collaborative culture with "Pirate Crew Socials" and unforgettable team moments.
